Barry Keller, Ph.D., P.G., C.HG. - Senior Hydrogeophysicist

Scientific acumen and experience, as applied to real-world environmental characterization, protection, and remediation, embody Dr. Barry Keller's contributions to professional projects spanning a wide spectrum of industrial, mining, military, and governmental applications. Drawing on academic and professional consulting experience of more than 25 years in geological reconnaissance, earthquake seismology, geophysical exploration, soil and groundwater investigation and remediation, storm water management, dredge material study design and hazardous waste planning, he has provided expertise for the petroleum, cement, cleaning, and mining industries, cleanup of military bases, and various levels of government. Dr. Keller has provided expert witness litigation support, including depositions and written declarations, for a variety of cases involving contamination and water supply issues. Many of his projects in the United States have involved risk, ecological, and environmental assessment, generally of areas which have suffered environmental degradation. He has been an author and reviewer of CEQA and NEPA compliance documents and has been author and senior reviewer for real estate transfer due diligence environmental assessments, including thermoelectric power plants in California. Recently, Dr. Keller has provided storm water management/erosion control services for a large cement mining corporation with facilities located throughout California. He has also provided expert guidance to this client and the San Francisco Department of Public Works to evaluate re-use options for dredge materials. Working recently in Chile, Dr. Keller was project manager and field organizer for multidisciplinary environmental baseline studies for new projects involving copper mines, slurry pipelines, and water resources development. The multidisciplinary teams included aquatic life specialists, ornithologists, zoologists, botanists, and ecologists, with Dr. Keller providing expertise on geology, hydrology, seismicity, and meteorology, as well as serving as principal author of reports in English and Spanish.
